Are your pet’s vaccinations up to date? From puppies and kittens through to adults, annual vaccinations keep your dog or cat protected from disease.

Why Are Pet Vaccinations Important?

Here at Paws and More Vet Centre, we want to see every pet happy, healthy and thriving in life. And as pet owners, we know you want the same! This is why pet vaccinations are so important. These vaccinations are the best way to prevent severe and life-threatening diseases in your pet cats and dogs.

Pet vaccinations work very similarly to the way our own vaccinations work. They exist to stop our pets from getting sick and increase their immunity from common infectious diseases. The vaccinations will contain a similar agent that causes the specific disease to allow our pet’s bodies to recognise it as a threat and prepare their immune system to fight it off.

At our Perth vet clinic, we offer both cat vaccinations and dog vaccinations. You should do your best to ensure your pets are vaccinated yearly to give them the best chance of staying happy and healthy. When you visit the experienced team at Paws and More, we will provide our recommended vaccination program for your pet. Their annual boosters can then be administered at their yearly checkups.

At Paws and More, our team is passionate about providing the best service to your pets. That is why we strongly encourage yearly vaccinations – it’s one of the best choices you can make for your pet’s wellbeing. But if you haven’t had your dog or cat vaccinated yet, there’s no time like the present to get them up to date!

If you have any questions about your pet’s vaccinations, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the friendly staff at our Canning Vale vet hospital.

Dog Vaccinations

As dog owners, we all want to see our pups living a healthy and active life. To give your furry friends their best chance at living a long and happy life, you need to ensure they stay up to date with their annual vaccinations.

At Paws and More Vet Centre, we offer a range of vaccinations for dogs and puppies. Routine dog vaccinations in Australia include:

  • Canine Parvovirus
  • Canine Distemper
  • Canine Hepatitis
  • Kennel Cough

You first need to get your canine friend vaccinated when they are a puppy. When they are first born, puppies have temporary protection against most diseases thanks to the antibodies they receive through their mother’s milk. However, this protection only lasts for a few months, so following the puppy vaccination timeline keeps your dog safe during their formative months.

Your pups should receive their first vaccinations at around six to eight weeks of age and their final round after sixteen weeks old. As your dog grows, it should continue to receive annual booster shots of their vaccines. This will provide the best protection for your pet.

Depending on the type of vaccination your pet needs, dog vaccination costs will vary. Please give our team a call to get an accurate price on our dog and puppy vaccinations in our Perth clinic.

Your pets’ health is always our number one priority when recommending vaccinations. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding your pets vaccination schedule, please reach out to the Paws and More team.

Cat Vaccinations

Cats are very adventurous creatures, so they need their vaccines to stay protected from illness. At Paws and More Vet Centre, we are big cat lovers, which is why we are passionate about promoting and administering cat vaccinations.

Vaccinations are the best way to protect your cats from dangerous and fatal diseases. Since cats are notoriously curious and love to escape the home for little excursions, they need extra protection from outside diseases.

In line with RSPCA guidelines, we recommend cat containment for their safety, but we understand indoor cats can be sneaky, so the safest path is always vaccination. Indoor cats can still contract serious illnesses if they get lost or a new cat is introduced to the household. That’s why vaccination is the best investment in your cat’s health, ensuring they’re covered in all scenarios.

At Paws and More, we offer a range of vaccinations for cats and kittens. The most common diseases that we routinely vaccinate against include:

  • Feline Parvovirus
  • Feline Calicivirus
  • Feline Herpesvirus
  • Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)
  • Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV)

Your kitten should receive their first vaccination at eight weeks old. They can then go in for their second vaccination between eleven and twelve weeks. Following these initial vaccinations, our team will recommend a schedule for annual booster shots.

Be aware that if your cat spends time outside, they will also need vaccinating against FIV and FLV to be fully protected. These are administered in an initial round of three, then are included in your cat’s yearly booster vaccinations.

Annual vaccinations are strongly advised to maintain high antibody levels in your pet throughout their life. Missing a year can increase their susceptibility to serious or fatal diseases. Luckily, when you are a client at Paws and More, we will send you vaccination reminders on an annual basis. This appointment will also include a yearly health checkup.

Depending on the type of vaccination your pet needs, cat vaccinations costs will vary. Please give our team a call to get an accurate price on our cat and kitten vaccinations in our Perth clinic.

So don’t put it off any longer. Book your cat’s vaccinations appointment today! If you have any further questions regarding cat vaccinations from our Canning Vale vet hospital, give our friendly team a call.
